I write about Baltika from Kaliningrad: match analysis, player stories and club finances.

Credentials

Why this can be trusted

In July 2026 the RPL gave an award to local writers for the first time — one per club. The Kaliningrad award went to me: Winline RPL Heroes, best local Baltika blogger of 2025/26.

I analyse matches not only from the broadcast: RPL accreditation and work from the press box, starting with the 2026/27 season opener at the VEB Arena. Since September 2026 the analysis draws on RuStat data.

Why

A calm tone and context

There is a lot of news around the club and little explanation. Explanation is what matters here: why the coach changes the structure, where a transfer fills a gap, how one player shapes a whole match.

I don't chase publication speed and don't retell press releases. Every text is an attempt to answer one specific question.

Where to read

Sports.ru, Klops and this site

The texts first appear in the author's blog on Sports.ru and in a blog on Klops — and are published here in full, each with its date, source and a link to the original. This site is the archive and the comfortable place to read, not a showcase.

The English version is a full translation of every text, not just the cards. Posts from the Telegram channel stay in Russian.

Principles

How I work

I separate facts from opinions. Numbers, line-ups and results are checked against official sources; my opinion is always marked as opinion.

I don't personalise failures. I analyse decisions and episodes rather than look for culprits.

I correct mistakes openly. If a text contains an error, I fix it and note it in the article.

How to read the site

The questions asked most often

Where things come from and how to subscribe. If the answer is not here, ask in the channel.

What does “without the noise” mean?

No clickbait, no “sensations”, no insider gossip for its own sake. A text goes out when there is something to say: a data-based match analysis, a transfer with context, a player portrait. Whatever does not merit a text — a reaction to a goal, a link, a training-ground photo — lives in the Telegram channel.

What are the “three takeaways” on match pages?

A short verdict written on match day: three thoughts that will outlast the score. The full analysis comes later and goes deeper — a link to it appears on the same match page, and the analysis carries the player ratings.

Where do the player ratings in the analyses come from?

They are the author's. The base is match data: xG and xA, duels, interceptions, passing accuracy — RUSTAT data since September 2026, the Sofascore and InStat indices before that. The correction is context: which minute he came on, at what score, against whom. These are neither the club's nor the league's ratings; the best place to argue with them is the comments under the channel post.

Where do the table, the fixtures and the squad come from?

The RPL table is pulled from Sports.ru several times a day; the update date sits under it on the Matches page. Fixtures and kick-off times follow the league's data; until a time is confirmed the match is marked as provisional. The squad, shirt numbers and season statistics come from the club's official site and refresh weekly. Transfer fees come from open sources, as the footnote to the transfers table says.

How do I follow without visiting the site?

The Telegram channel carries everything immediate. RSS for all texts: /en/feed.xml; RSS for the channel mirror: /telegram/feed.xml. A match calendar for your phone (.ics) is on the Matches page: the subscription refreshes itself and the score appears in the event title after the game. Once a week there is a digest — one page, easy to forward to someone who missed it all.

Where do I discuss a text?

Under every text the “Discuss in Telegram” button leads to the channel post about it — that is where the comments and reactions are. The site itself has no comments on purpose: one conversation in one place.

Is there a Russian version?

Yes — every text here is a full translation of the Russian original, and the RU/EN switch in the header leads to it. The channel posts stay in Russian.

Found a mistake?

Write to the author — the link is at the bottom of this page. Corrections are made in the open: the text keeps a note of what was changed and when.
